Boingo recently debuted their fastest free WiFi service yet with speeds of up to 20 Mbps for subscribers and power users at airports across the country. The new faster service is a part of the Boingo S.M.A.R.T. network, an acronym that stands for Secure, Multiplatform, Analytics-Driven, Responsive and Tiered. The Tiered part of the network allows users to choose from several different WiFi speed options, depending upon their individual needs. While power users, or those who require airport WiFi to function as a stand-in for their office service, receive paid options with speeds of 20 Mbps to 50 Mbps, all Boingo subscribers will receive the fastest option upon log-in. All unsubscribed airport passengers will receive comparable fast Boingo WiFi service.
“Our S.M.A.R.T. networks represent a revolutionary new approach to airport wireless networks,” says Nick Hulse, president, Boingo. “They provide a complete end-to-end solution to airports and their customers, including high-speed, free WiFi for all, and incredibly fast WiFi for power users. S.M.A.R.T. networks are built to scale for carrier offload and the data onslaught from the hottest new apps, videos and gaming, and feature seamless connectivity via Passpoint.”
This service is currently available at seven domestic airports — Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, Boston Logan International, Chicago Midway, Chicago O’Hare International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport, LaGuardia Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport — with new locations being added soon.
“Now, more than ever, connectivity is critical for travelers,” says Thomas Bosco, director of aviation, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. “With the launch of S.M.A.R.T., the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey now offers passengers one of the best WiFi networks in the world, including high-quality, free WiFi that our passengers crave. We are committed to providing an outstanding travel and technology experience to our mobile-savvy guests, and Boingo is helping us fulfill that promise with better, faster and more secure wireless service for all.”
Boingo is currently the world’s top airport WiFi service, present in nearly 60 airports, including more than 50 percent of the top 50 airports in North America, and more than 30 percent of the top 30 airports in the world.
