Last week, Katie Skrzek, vice president/digital director, and I attended a breakfast panel held by Citrin Cooperman titled “Women at the Wheel: Driving Your Business.” It was an inspiring, female-driven morning with three women from varied backgrounds and career fields sharing their stories, advice and thoughts.

At FXExpress Publications, Inc., women definitely outnumber men. Working at a female-heavy company, it was interesting to hear the perspective of other women in business.

The panelists included Heather Mitts, a three-time Olympic gold medalist for Team USA and co-founder of Ceres Platinum; Jen Groover, an author, speaker and serial entrepreneur; and Leslie Benoliel, president, Entrepreneur Works.

The discussion covered a variety of topics, from mentoring and learning from mistakes to what the future of women in business will look like — a well-timed topic given the current climate.

It’s always interesting to actually take a moment to listen to people from all walks of life, from different careers and industries, of different genders and ages, from varying experience levels. The event offered an opportunity to do just that and proved an empowering start to the day.
