This weekend my husband and I had a friend visit, arriving midday at Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station. It was the perfect opportunity to enjoy lunch in the city, and after little discussion our mind was set on Village Whiskey.
Having eaten dinner there a few years back, this Rittenhouse-area tavern left a lasting impression on both of us with its extensive selection of 100-plus types of whiskey as well as the most amazing burgers either of us ever had. Unfortunately, we also recall they do not take reservations and often have a very long wait for a table, which has probably kept us from returning up until now.
However, on this rainy Saturday afternoon, we were seated with little wait at all, and owner Chef Jose Garces delivered on all of our gastronomic promises. This spot is well worth the wait for a special night out, or better yet, stop by and indulge during the day.
