This weekend I had the opportunity to travel to Cape Cod for a family wedding. As I have never been in this area of Massachusetts, I was looking forward to my visit.  I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Cape, and everything I have heard was certainly true. Being there in the middle of February, it happened to be a very cold and windy weekend, but this certainly did not take away from the beauty of the island! We were told to visit a popular restaurant and pub called The British Beer Company. During the colder months, the pub is known for its hot chowder. While I didn’t try the chowder, I enjoyed a hot cup of butternut squash soup, which couldn’t have been more perfect for the chilly day. A cold, spicy Bloody Mary adorned with fresh lemon, lime and jump-lump shrimp was also a delicious and refreshing choice. One of the best Bloody Marys I have ever had! The particular location of the restaurant was situated directly across the street from the beach and Nantucket Sound. What a view! Although it was a chilly day, the sun was shining over the clear, blue water; and I couldn’t help but think how beautiful the beach must be during the summer months.  A running/walking path lined the beach, which I think is perfect for those, like myself, who like to run by the water but not necessarily on the sand.
