During my trip to Austin last month, my goal was to find unique and classic Texas experiences. Whether it was seeing a concert in a grocery store or sampling mountain oysters for the first time, I wanted to see and do everything! After all, the city’s unofficial motto is “Keep Austin Weird.” Instead of having a boring hotel breakfast, we decided to try the Gospel Brunch at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q. The popular event takes places every Sunday, with seatings at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Guests are treated to a lively gospel performance while enjoying a flavorful meal. The top-notch buffet featured authentic Texas dishes including fried catfish, spinach enchiladas, cheesy grits, pancakes, biscuits and their famous brisket. The nopalitos, a tender cactus dish, and migas, eggs prepared with peppers, onions, corn tortillas and chorizo, were surprising standouts. I took advantage of the Bloody Mary bar to customize my brunch beverage. The meal and performance were finished far too quickly, but I enjoyed every minute of it.
