Enjoying a “normal” activity with friends can take a bit more finesse than it used to but is well worth the planning. What used to be a couple friends making appointments and meeting at a salon is now a group hang on someone’s couch with a professional nail technician making house calls — and yes, I’m adapting nicely.

While not a regular at any salon, by any means, I do love the social aspect of a salon outing with the girls, so when my friend asked if I’d like to come by and get my nails done (spa pedicure and gel nails for $60) in her living room on a rainy afternoon, it definitely seemed like a great use of my time. The whole process took a couple hours for three friends to get pedicures and gel nails, which was a little longer than a salon experience when we would all get treatments at the same time, but considering we didn’t have to leave the couch, everything was clean, comfortable and safe, I really can’t complain.
