My family and I attended a cousin’s wedding in New Hampshire recently, and family vacations being few and far between, we decided to make a quick road trip out of it. Some guests we met at the wedding told us about a great town to check out — Rockport, Mass. Having never been to the area before, we were all more than happy to take suggestions. Once we exited the highway and found parking, we were all pleasantly surprised by the locals-only feel of the town and excited to stretch our legs. The picturesque location, Bearskin Neck in Cape Ann, to be exact, was breathtaking. The waterfront views from the harbor were a beautiful backdrop to the eclectic shops and restaurants scattered through the historic little town. We made a beeline for the candy shop, The Fudgery, and once inside, the shop owners told us parts of the film The Proposal were shot in town. No one questioned it, considering how beautiful and film-worthy the town was, but we were shown picture proof by the owners, anyway. We ended up exploring the town for the day and seeing most of the unique thrift shops, beautiful dining locations and street markets. We definitely could have stayed longer if we had the time, but we made the pit stop, and I would highly suggest it for anyone looking for a weekend away. — Angelique Platas, assistant marketing and sales coordinator
