I had to make a trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to check the progress on a house I purchased in September. The September trip corresponded very nicely between the closing of the house and a golf trip with my brother and some friends. I have reviewed nearly every course in the Kitty Hawk region. Check out GTee reviews of Seascapes, Nags Head and others. Kitty Hawk ties in nicely to my career — this is where the Wright Brothers made their first powered flight. I have a large black and white picture of the first flight hanging in my office at World Headquarters. It is amazing to think that just over 100 years ago man was unable to fly. In a very short time — maybe a lifetime — we have gone from ground lovers to sky lovers. And look at the changes in the aircraft we fly — from the Constellation to the A380. This is truly an amazing transformation, and in a very short time. Anyway, my beach house — or “the cottage” as they call it — is moving right along and has been totally gutted. It sits on stilts, across from the beach that is a walk away from where Orville and Wilbur Wright took their first flight. The house is a true fixer-upper. When I purchased it, my plan was to just slap on some paint and get it in working order to become a renting machine. My first night there, everything changed. I removed some wood paneling and found there was no drywall behind this thin veneer. I was told that was the way they did things down there. Well, one thing led to another, and now we are looking at a total renovation inside and out. We are looking forward to the finished product this summer!
