This Sunday, Nov. 9, members of the Global Traveler team will participate in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk in Philadelphia. Taking place in cities around the world, the fundraising campaign funds research to advance therapies and treatments for blood cancer patients and honors blood cancer survivors. Campaigns such as Light the Night make a real impact on the lives of blood cancer patients by helping fund LLS-supported advancements. Since 1949, LLS has been ensuring access to treatments for patients such as breakthroughs like targeted therapies that zero in on cancer calls and kill them and immunotherapies that use a patient’s own immune system to kill cancer. Funds raised through the Light the Night Walk support these breakthrough therapies as well as provide free education materials and programs for patients and their families, power advocacy to ensure access to treatments and help provide personalized assistance. GT supports LLS in several ways. This year we are again partnering with LLS for our annual charity auction online at globaltravelerusa.com/auction. Thanks to the generous donations of our readers, more than $1.5 million has been raised over the past 11 years, directly benefiting LLS and the fight to cure cancer. The auction begins March 1 and ends May 1, 2015. As of this morning, 4,027 people will be participating in the Light the Night Walk this Sunday along Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in Philadelphia, and $586,370 of our $1 million goal has been raised.
