A few weeks ago, I spent the weekend celebrating one of my dearest friend’s bachelorette party in San Diego with eight of her favorite ladies. On Saturday night we decided to check out the newest and hottest hotel, The Pendry, located in the Gaslamp Quarter. Talk about a chic spot: Its lux and traditional décor paired with its Southern charm made it a night to remember. We made a reservation at Lionfish, the modern coastal restaurant, and enjoyed a family-style dinner complete with an airy, 2 floor dining room.
A few of my favorite dishes from the seasonal and local menu were the stone fruit and spinach salad, crispy rock shrimp and patatas bravas. If you like trying a bit of everything on the menu, this is the perfect place to do so. For an individual experience, I highly recommend the Nigiri flights; I ordered the Baja Hiramasa. The dish came with four separate pieces of yellowtail, each layered with different flavors; from kumquat marmalade to caviar and gremolata, the flavors were exceptional.
Our dinner ended with a round of complimentary espresso shots for the bride and her ladies. Who could resist a delicious handcrafted cocktail before heading downstairs to the Pendry’s Oxford Social Club for a night of dancing?!
