It’s been an exciting couple of weeks for Philadelphia sports. First, the city hosted the World Cup, then the MLB’s greatest players came to the City of Brotherly Love for the MLB Homerun Derby and All-Star Game. Travelers from all over the world got to experience what is arguably one of the best sports cities in the world, and we really gave them a show!

Now, Philadelphia is making sports news again with the signing of LeBron James to the Philadelphia Sixers. It seems like the talks about where LeBron would be going during his free agency have been all over the place. People thought he was heading back to Cleveland, maybe Miami, Golden State and even Philadelphia. I didn’t want to believe he was actually coming to Philadelphia because there were rumors during his last free agency, and, clearly, it didn’t happen. Although during this free agency there were rumors swirling around on X that his kids were recently enrolled in one of the prep schools in the Philadelphia area, so that made it seem a little more believable. The best part of this trade was seeing everyone’s reactions on social media. Philly fans are going crazy. Someone at the Jersey Shore said when it was announced you could hear people yelling, blasting the Sixers fight song (“Here Come the Sixers”), and everyone was wearing Sixers jerseys.

Now with LeBron in Philly, the Sixers have a pretty strong starting lineup, also including Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and V.J. Edgecombe. I am still unsure how I feel about him coming to Philly, but I definitely think he might help the Sixers actually be contenders. Here’s to an exciting Sixers season! Can’t wait to go to a game.
