Just Married

As I mentioned in my last blog post, COVID has really done a number on wedding planning for 2020 (among other things, as we all know).

My fiancé and I decided to get legally married now, even though we pushed our wedding date back to 2021. We still want to be married, sooner rather than later. After a backyard BBQ/wedding fell through, my friend offered her yard (and driveway), and we jumped at the chance. (My dad is in a wheelchair, so this is super-easy for him to navigate).

I don’t know where time goes, but here we are, the night before my wedding! What’s crazy is, even with the backyard/driveway wedding, there’s still a LOT to do — flowers, cake, dress, hair, nails, packing for the mini-moon, getting pets taken care of . . . the list just goes on. The last two weeks have absolutely FLOWN by, and my list seems to have gotten longer by the minute. I totally thought I would be relaxed and carefree, and I couldn’t have been more wrong.

I’m looking forward to the end of the quick service, officiated by my lifelong best friend (it’s her yard/driveway), to kiss my soon-to-be husband, have a glass of Champagne and relax. After the ceremony we’re heading to Stone Harbor, New Jersey, for a mini-moon at The Reeds, and I’m so excited to spend time unwinding by the beach. I definitely need it!

At the end of the day, as stressed as I may have been this week, I’m so excited to have found my person and to start our lives together. I’m lucky in life and love, and I couldn’t be more blessed.

Sun, Sea, Cliffs and Bridges Beckon on the Pacific Coast Highway

On one side, waves breathe in and out across wide stretches of sand or explode against jagged rocks, sending spray shooting into the air. On the other side, the scenery changes: Cliffs rise like walls, vineyards clip past in neat rows, pine trees line the road. Between these, cities give way to small communities with art galleries, local restaurants and shops selling beachwear.
