Going Green with ThredUp Clothing Consignment

by Angelique Platas

Feb 23, 2020

I’ve recently enlisted the help of ThredUp, an online clothing store and consignment shop, to help with my wardrobe rule of one thing in, one thing out. I still donate to Philly AIDS Thrift and Goodwill, but when I have items with tags or that are brand-new and I’m feeling a little greedy, I send my clothing and shoes to ThredUp.

Here’s how it works:

Click Clean Out and order a pre-labeled bag for purchase, or a free label to pack and ship yourself — I go with the latter. ThredUp is looking for high-quality, name-brand items that are clean and less than 5 years old — of course preferably with tags and in near-mint condition. On average, ThredUp only accepts 40 percent of the clothing you ship, which says something about quality control and standards from a shopper’s standpoint.

Who ThredUp works for:

If you have great stuff you don’t need but wouldn’t mind a few dollars to spend on ThredUp, go for it. You can always cash out, but ThredUp will add a percentage to your total to shop on the site.

It’s pretty easy to use ThredUp and fun clearing out space in your closet.

Mindfulness City in Kingdom of Bhutan Unveiled as Future Economic Hub

In front of an audience of 30,000 Kingdom of Bhutan residents and officials, His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck presented his vision for a new economic hub in Bhutan. Located between India to the south and China to the north, Bhutan is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. Bhutan came late to global tourism. It opened its borders to international visitors in 1974 and, while tourism definitely increased, residents are enduring “light” rush-hour traffic in Thimphu, its capital city, as the only Asian capital without traffic lights.

Amansara Review

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
