As the New Year gets underway, we here at GT are back in the swing of things both with our print and digital publications and with our efforts for our local chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, an organization near and dear to our hearts. As readers of the blog, I’m sure you are familiar with our efforts with LLS EPA . Our yearly travel auction, returning March 1, is a popular initiative among readers, with exceptional airline and hotel stays up for bids for two months, with 100 percent of the proceeds supporting the fight to cure blood cancers. Look out for more information about the 2016 version in the coming weeks. For the past three years, Global Traveler has also been involved with the Philadelphia-area Red & White Ball, a black-tie gala to support LLS EPA. Last year, the event earned $500,000 to help fund some of the 11 life-saving initiatives taking place in Philadelphia to bring an end to leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. In 2016, Francis X. Gallagher, publisher and CEO, serves as co-chair of the event, and I serve as the auction chair. Even if you are not based in the Philadelphia area, there are ways you can help. Just this past Wednesday, we kicked off our Red & White Ball raffle. Tickets are available for $100 for a chance to win a brand-new Mercedes-Benz 2016 GLC300 4MATIC. United Airlines First to Purchase Sustainable Aviation Fuel for ORD
Chicago O’Hare International Airport will soon receive sustainable aviation fuel, all thanks to United Airlines, which became the first airline to purchase SAF for use at the airport, one of the largest in the United States.
