I recently had the chance to learn more about FRHI Hotels & Resorts. The three distinct brands of the hotel collection include Fairmont Hotels & Resorts; Raffles Hotels; and Swissôtel. At a round-table luncheon at New York City’s Le Bernadin, I heard from several general managers from a few worldwide properties; they updated those in attendance about their hotels. The Savoy in London completed a three-year renovation and re-opened to the public in 2010, in a building dating to 1246. Located in the city’s Covent Garden neighborhood, the property operates six on-site restaurants and bars and is an icon in the London hospitality scene. Last year marked the Savoy’s 125^th anniversary. Raffles Istanbul offers a luxury experience in Turkey with unbeatable views above the Bosporus. Its spa, one of the largest in the city, has three hammams, two couple’s suites and seven treatment rooms. Le Royal Monceau’s film club hosts deluxe screenings of classic films every Sunday night in the Paris hotel’s 99-seat private theater. In addition to leather seats, state-of-the-art equipment and popcorn by Pierre Hermé, two ticket price options allow guests to enjoy Champagne or a two-course dinner that evening in addition to the screening. Upcoming films include Gladiator, 47 Ronin and Love Actually. Fairmont Pacific Rim’s Bike Butler prepares guests to discover Vancouver on two wheels, with cycling maps, directions and tips. He also tunes bikes and provides helmets, locks and water. The program is unique to the property. Meanwhile, Fairmont St. Andrews is gearing up for the 2015 British Open. Sold out for the event, the resort offers 520 acres of beautiful surroundings the rest of the year, with two golf courses, fine dining and a spa. — Kim Krol, managing editor
