This past weekend I visited Fort Collins, Colo., for a wedding. During my stay, I had the chance to check out a couple local breweries. Our first stop was Equinox Brewing. The quaint brewery was a short walk from our hotel. The brewery features a taproom and beer garden, offering an inviting experience. With so many beers to choose from, I selected the standard flight to get a taste of a few different types. Featuring six of their classic brews, my favorite was their Celestial Pilsner. Brewed as a traditional German-style Pilsner, their version had a nice, crisp taste with a slightly bitter finish. Equinox has a shuffleboard table near the back of the bar. My friends and I played a few games before moving to our next destination. New Belgium Brewing, one of the most popular in the city, is a must-see. The brewery has a beer garden, indoor bar seating, gift shop and large brewing facilities. Tours sell out months in advance, so be sure to make a reservation if you want to tour the facilities. We decided to enjoy a few tasters and take in the beautiful Colorado weather in the beer garden. Tasters cost $1.50, so I decided to pick four different beers. Their seasonal Pumpkick was newly on tap, and I was glad it was! As far as fall beers go, it is one of my favorites — not too heavy but still packing plenty of autumnal flavor. Fort Collins is home to more breweries than I had time to explore on my short visit. I hope to check out a few of the other offerings next time! — Katie Skrzek, vice president, digital director
