Last week I attended a breakfast for FRHI Hotels & Resorts at The Plaza Hotel in New York. Held in The Oak Room, the roundtable featured a snapshot of the hotel group’s three brands: Fairmont, Raffles and Swissôtel. Kevin Frid, President, Americas for FRHI took us through a presentation describing the three brands and what the future holds for FRHI. The group’s corporate vision is “to be the world’s preferred hospitality company.” This sentiment rings true through FRHI’s luxurious properties and global growth. Currently, FRHI consists of more than 110 hotels in 35 countries — and growing. Fairmont has 68 properties; Raffles, 11; and Swissôtel, 31. Over the next three years, look out for dozens of new hotels all over the world, including Raffles Jakarta (opening 2015), Raffles Warsaw (opening 2016), Fairmont Austin (opening 2017) and Swissôtel Hangzhou (opening 2018). To give a feel for the variety FRHI Hotels & Resorts offers, the room was set with mock-ups of each brand’s décor. Fairmont’s display included an animal-print rug and decorative mirror wall hanging all in a mod style. Raffles’ design reflected a more traditional aesthetic of rich leather chairs, a gold bar cart and a bookshelf with vintage books. Swissôtel featured a plush, white carpet, unique framed prints on the walls and pillows using fabric from a local supplier with a pattern to look like the alpine snow flower. With multimillion-dollar renovations, new properties and a focus on luxury, FRHI Hotels & Resorts has an exciting future. — Katie Skrzek, digital media manager

Apr 26, 2024The Bishop’s Lodge’s Bunkhouse: A Rustic, Historic Getaway
Santa Fe, New Mexico, is a small town that’s big on historic landmarks, buildings, parks and Western lore. Many of its most fascinating structures also happen to be hotels, including Bishop’s Lodge, which extends the city’s specific charms from the streets into the public areas and private suites and rooms. While most of the properties within historic buildings are upscale, Bishop’s Lodge is now a member of Auberge Resorts Collection thanks to a painstaking restoration, luxury appointments, commitment to personal service and wide range of exclusive activities.
