A few weeks ago, in a poor effort to will and wish warmer weather into the forecast, I found myself at a baseball game. I’m not particularly a fan of baseball, but I am a fan of sitting outside in the sunshine, drinking beer and eating good food. I also enjoy cheering for a team, almost any team, even if, at the end of the day, I don’t really care who wins or loses. For these reasons, I try to attend a few games each year. It was my first time visiting Citizens Bank Park. While some say every sports venue is mostly the same, I have to disagree. All the basic components might be there, but each has its own individual personality. For me, you couldn’t beat the park’s views of the Philadelphia skyline as the sun set. For football fans, the nearby Lincoln Financial Field boasts the same scenery. Contentedly, I grabbed a beer and a cheesesteak and settled in to my seat for the next few hours. My favorite part of the game? America’s most recognizable mascot, the Phillie Phanatic. While I was definitely betrayed by the cooling temperatures once the sun went down, it was still a great start to the summer baseball season. — Holly Riddle, assistant editor
