Last week I attended an exclusive sneak peek event for Air Canada’s new Signature Suite at Toronto Pearson International Airport; the suite officially opened Friday, Dec. 1. The airport retreat reserved for the airline’s International Business passengers offers a complimentary, full-service

restaurant with a menu crafted by acclaimed chef David Hawksworth. I sampled some of the fare, and the experience absolutely felt more like dining in a fine-dining restaurant rather than an airport.

The 6,400-square-foot suite is open to all full-fare paying International Business Class passengers, excluding upgrades and most point redemption programs, ensuring a private and exclusive space for premium customers. The new suite is in line with Air Canada’s upgraded premium experience, from check-in through landing. Located near the departure gates in Terminal 1, it can accommodate 160 customers; there’s a cocktail lounge space, full-service bar, a selection of hors d’oeuvres and snacks, a quiet sitting area and concierge service.

Montréal architecture firm Heekyung Duquette designed the space, decorated with accents by Canadian artists. There is a mural by Ottawa artist Gavin Lynch, the chandelier by Toronto design firm Moss & Lam and other works by Montréal artists Pascale Girardin and Nicolas Ruel. Other amenities include high-quality wine and spirits supplied by partners Diageo and Moët & Chandon, signature cocktails, and luxury skincare from Molton Brown. From the signature cocktail menu I can personally recommend The Gala and Scarlet Juniper.
