These days Easter egg hunts look a little different for my family, as all of us are over 21. We don’t hunt for eggs any more, but instead we hunt for our favorite beer, ciders or soda. This year I chose my favorite cider, Downeast, while my brothers hunted for their favorite beers and my cousin and her boyfriend searched for their favorite sodas.

We all waited inside while my mom and dad hid all the drinks in our backyard. Once it was time to go, my mom reminded us of the rules before we set out on the hunt. There aren’t many rules, but we can’t react if we find someone else’s, can’t move it or tell them where it is.

After we were reminded of the rules, we set out to find our drinks. I started off hot and was the first one to find two, but then, as time went on, I started to fall behind. I found my third a little bit later and I thought I was back in the game, but it took me forever to find my last two.

As I was still searching for them, of course, I found everyone else’s but mine. Throughout the last couple of minutes, everyone started to find their last ones, leaving me the only one left with a drink still hidden. I couldn’t find it, so my mom had to give me a hint. It ended up being in a lantern that had frosted sides and something on top of it. Everyone agreed it was the hardest hiding spot, and no one thought to look in there. So, even though I came in last place, that made me feel better everyone thought my last one was in a hard location.

All I can say is I am coming to play next year and will not lose for the second year in a row!
