Do you have one of those weekends that’s just really fun? When the stars align and a bunch of activities come together perfectly? I had just that last weekend.

Admittedly, the weekend started a bit early, as we wrapped up our Leisure Lifestyle Awards celebration in Los Angeles Thursday night, and Katie Skrzek, digital director, and I decided to enjoy the day in LA on Friday. We kicked off the day with a strenuous hike in Runyon Canyon — where we mistakenly picked the more difficult route but ended thankful for the workout. After a breakfast at our hotel, we indulged in spa treatments at SoSpa at the Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills. We didn’t sit still for long—we took a late-afternoon tour of Paramount Studios. Then we headed to Mr. Furley’s Bar in Sherman Oaks (my cousin is the owner!) for a bite and a cocktail before departing for the airport for our red-eye flight back east.

Upon arrival in Philadelphia, we had more fun activities lined up. First, of course, was brunch at Sabrina’s, a Philadelphia favorite with a new outpost in Collingswood, N.J., followed by an afternoon at an Upcoming Events event at Citizen’s Bank Park: the first annual All Star Craft Beer and Wine Festival. The event featured more than 200 vendors, ranging from breweries, vineyards and distilleries to artisans, companies and food stalls. While it wasn’t as sunny as originally expected, it was a fun afternoon and a popular event, based on the turnout.

And finally, I capped off the weekend with a matinee performance of Dirty Dancing the Musical at Philadelphia’s Merriam Theater. The finale — as Johnny says the famous line, “Nobody puts Baby in a corner” and performs the show-stopping lift — brought the crowd to its feet.
