Two weekends ago I attended an event in Haddonfield, N.J., Taste of the Haddons. The annual fundraising gala and silent auction, hosted by the Junior Women’s Club, showcased tastes of local restaurants from Haddonfield, Haddon Heights and Haddon Township, offering a selection of local cuisine and drinks along with entertainment.
It was a great way to experience local restaurants for the first time. Food was served buffet-style — perfect for an indecisive eater like myself. I love to try a little bit of everything! My favorites were chicken salad from Apron, eggplant roulade from The Black Horse Diner, chicken Marsala from Caffe Aldo Lamberti’s and hummus from Keg & Kitchen. The lemon ricotta cookies from La Cucina Dolce were divine.
While I didn’t participate in the silent auction, I enjoyed browsing the large selection of items from local businesses and organizations including Pour House, The Pop Shop, Philadelphia Flyers and Haddonfield Running Company. Proceeds from the night went to Habitat for Humanity of Southern Ocean County, to aid those affected by the recent storms.
Haddonfield is a quick drive from Cherry Hill, N.J., and Philadelphia, Pa. It’s a fun town to visit if you’re in the area. Be sure to grab a bite!
