Writing a weekly blog can be a challenge and coming up with interesting things to say can be mind boggling. I try to make my blog entries topical and interesting, giving you a snapshot of my life.  In the past, I ranted; I felt this really served no purpose, so I changed to reflect a more positive and interesting approach. I will continue to do so in 2011. I do want to share with you a story about a recent tour I took of the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa.  They are about to complete a massive renovation of the property, including a new paint scheme and wallpaper, new rugs and furniture and other amenities to freshen up the property.  When I was taking a tour with my good friend Bernie Caalim (PR director), we were checking out one of the sample rooms, and I walked to the lanai for a look. As Bernie was speaking, I saw out of the corner of my eye a rather large breaching whale  jumping out of the water, splashing and showing his large tail as he entered the water and dove. I was quite impressed, and it reminded me of my recent trip to South Africa when I saw the same. Usually the whale breaches many times in a row, so if you see it once, it will  likely repeat. In S.A., we saw a young whale breach more than 14 times — it must have been having a lot of fun or it was trying to rustle free some pesky parasites.  Some think this is a form of communication between whales. This view from the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort was worth sharing.
