Last weekend, my girlfriends and I had a gal’s day in Philadelphia. We started the day with brunch at Harper’s Garden. I have never been there before, so I was excited to check out the food and cocktail scene. We had a reservation, so we were taken to our outdoor table right away – luckily it wasn’t too hot in the city.
After looking at the cocktail menu, we all decided on an espresso martini, which was delicious. For my meal, I settled on scrambled eggs with breakfast potatoes and bacon – also delicious. Once we finished our espresso martinis, we decided to split a mimosa carafe to enjoy while we caught up and finished our breakfast. We haven’t seen our one friend in a while, so we spent a lot of time filling each other in on everything that’s happened the past couple of weeks.
When we were done, we decided to continue the day and walk to Uptown Beer Garden, an outside bar venue located in Center City. After looking over the cocktail menu, we all decided on an espresso martini once again. If you can’t tell, we are big fans of the espresso martini. This one wasn’t the best I’ve had; it seemed a little warm and left a weird taste in my mouth, so naturally I decided to switch it up for my next drink. We spent the next couple of hours at Uptown Beer Garden gossiping about anything and everything.
Once it started getting a little late, we decided to go back to the house to meet up with some other friends we had plans with later in the night. We spent the next couple of hours relaxing and just hanging out before heading out again to a bar called JJ Bootleggers. We recently went to JJ Bootleggers for the first time where we found out it was a good time and the DJ played amazing music. After spending a couple of hours at the bar, we all got pretty tired, so we decided to head home and go to sleep.
It was a much-needed girls day in the city and a fun night with more of our friends!

May 14, 2025Hotel Van Zandt Review
One step onto Austin’s Rainey Street and you’ll feel like you’ve joined the cool kids at the best playground in the city. Just behind the cottage bars, pint-sized skyscrapers soar. One of them, Hotel Van Zandt, the Rainey district's pièce de resistance, beckons with a song-like spirit —apropos because the independently owned property, rife with music motifs, was named after beloved singer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt. Sixteen stories high, the hotel embodies Austin’s lust for music, manifesting with a vinyl corner; trumpet chandeliers; myriad musical references; replica vintage posters in frames; and its own live music venue, which doubles as its acclaimed restaurant, Geraldine’s. Don’t miss the mesmerizing installation of colorful origami-like birds composed from vinyl records that flitter from an old phonograph.
