On Tuesday night I attended the Brazilian Tourism Board‘s cocktail event celebrating the 7th Cine Fest in New York. The festival began Aug. 2 and ends tomorrow. It included a Brazilian band’s performance at Summer Stage in Central Park and film screenings at Tribeca Cinemas, with nightly events at the cinema’s main bar and lounge. The cocktail celebration was held at Churrascaria Tribeca. Churrascaria comes from the name Churrasco — a type of Brazilian skewering where prime meat is slowly cooked over a hot, wood-burning fire. The event was very laid back without any type of speech or presentation, allowing guests to enjoy the food and wine after their work day while mingling and discussing the event. I really enjoy these types of events, which maximize networking by having little to no presentations or speeches. I was saddened when I heard our good friend Miguel, of the Brazilian Tourism Board, recently closed his delicious, gorgeous Portuguese restaurant, Alfama. Alex and I have enjoyed dinner there, and I have taken my family to the restaurant to enjoy its tasty wine menu and delicious rabbit (the best I’ve ever tasted!). Not to fret, however, as Miguel informed me they will be opening at a new location in the fall. I look forward to dining at the new location. -Courtney Centeno, account executive Global Traveler has joined the world of social marketing.
