The ancient city of Lamu, Kenya, is the oldest and best-preserved Swahili city in East Africa. Unique architecture, emerald green beaches and spectacular views make it a must-visit.
These dramatic cliffs lie south of Luanda. Their name translates to “viewpoint of the moon.” Formed by erosion caused by wind and rain, the effects are otherworldly. It is a must-see stop for some authentic African vibes on your journey.
If you’re one for adventure, head to the dramatic mountains, lush green landscapes and ocean views of Fontainhas, in Cape Verde, for rock-climbing, hiking and cliff diving.
Tsiny de Bemaraha National Park
This national park in the throes of Madagascar is an entirely unique rock formation comprised of needle-shaped rocks that almost look like a forest. The effects make for a dramatic and awe-inspiring setting.
This beautiful village looks like it belongs more in Spain or Greece with its white and blue tones, quaint cobbled streets and dramatic cliffsides. Located on the Mediterranean coast of Tunisia, Sidi Bou Said’s beauty has been the inspiration for many painters and writers.
