Personal finance website WalletHub recently revealed the results of its report on the best U.S. summer travel destinations for 2021. The study compared 100 metro areas across several key factors including flight cost, safety and attractions.

 

Top 20 summer travel destinations:

  1. Orlando, Florida
  2. Honolulu, Hawai’i
  3. New Orleans, Louisiana
  4. Austin, Texas
  5. Atlanta, Georgia
  6. Salt Lake City, Utah
  7. Tulsa, Oklahoma
  8. Los Angeles, California
  9. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
  10. Little Rock, Arkansas
  11. Washington, D.C.
  12. Springfield, Massachusetts
  13. San Antonio, Texas
  14. Wichita, Kansas
  15. Tampa, Florida
  16. Tucson, Arizona
  17. Miami, Florida
  18. Riverside, California
  19. Albuquerque, New Mexico
  20. Raleigh, North Carolina

 

Florida is the most popular state, with three cities in the top 20. Oklahoma and Texas tied for second with two cities each in the top 20. Chicago, Illinois, ranked top for city with most attractions, with Deltona, Florida, as the city with the least. Santa Rosa, California, has the highest local costs and McAllen, Texas, offers the lowest.
