Holiday travel can be expensive, so WalletHub put together a list of the year’s best holiday travel credit cards to make earning points and miles and saving money on shopping a little easier.

Named best overall, the Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite MasterCard offers a $400 travel statement credit for spending $3,000 in the first three months; 2 percent back on all purchases when redeemed for travel and a 5 percent miles rebate; and no annual fees in the first year.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, named best initial bonus, offers a 50,000-point rewards bonus for spending at least $4,000 during the first three months an account is open. The points can be redeemed for $625 in travel booked through Chase or a $500 statement credit. From there, users earn two points per $1 spent on travel and restaurants as well as one point per $1 spent on everything else.

Named best for hotel rewards, the Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express offers 25,000 bonus points for charging at least $3,000 to the card within three months of account opening. This provides roughly $650 in SPG reservations. The card also doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees and its annual fee is waived the first year.

If you find yourself traveling via car more than plane, the PenFed Platinum Rewards Visa Signature Credit Card is a great option, offering five points per $1 spent on gas at any station. It also offers three points per $1 spent at the supermarket and one point per $1 on everything else. You’ll receive a $100 statement credit for spending $1,500 within 90 days of account opening.

The Citi Diamond Preferred Card offers the longest 0 percent introduction period at 21 months, ideal if you plan on carrying a balance from month to month following travel. Paying travel expenses with this card will save you money on interest charges.
