This summer, British Pullman, A Belmond Train, England, unveils a dazzling new private dining and events carriage imagined and designed by filmmaker Baz Luhrmann and Oscar-winning costume and production designer Catherine Martin. The carriage, dubbed Celia, will occupy an original 1932 Pullman carriage and offer up to 12 guests the most intimate and cinematic way to experience Britain’s most storied train.

The entirely self-contained private carriage will boast its own cocktail bar, lounge, dining and entertainment space, dedicated stewards, and the option for a private chef to craft bespoke menus using the finest seasonal British produce.

Celia is inspired by Luhrmann’s vivid imagination and London’s 1930s West End theater scene, with rich velvets; floral marquetry; theatrical curtains; and a palette of deep reds, greens, yellows and purples.

“With the simple closing of a curtain, the car transforms into a performance space: a place where a father might speak at a beloved child’s birthday or engagement, or, when the occasion calls for a bit more fun, somewhere music can be spun. In that way, Celia also echoes the philosophy of a film set; a space designed with intention to adapt and heighten whatever the traveler’s unique story requires. It works beautifully as a creative retreat, or in a business setting, it becomes an intimate environment for discussion, a product launch, or a special announcement,” said Luhrmann.

The carriage will depart from London Victoria Station across all British Pullman journeys, making for exceptional celebrations, milestone moments, theatrical performances and elegant cocktail soirées thanks to its seamless ability to transform from refined dining room to performance space or dance floor.
