Celebrating 120 years of welcoming guests to St. Moritz, the legendary Badrutt’s Palace Hotel is embracing summer in the Swiss Alps with its third annual Musikfestival (Aug. 28–29). This year, conductor Lukas Reinitzer will lead the Sinfonia Amadei Orchestra in classics by composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, performing on authentic historic instruments. The concert will include ldiko Kertész on flute, Mechthild Karkow on violin and Lucile Chionchini on viola performing (among other selections from Mozart) “Symphony No. 27” in G major and “Flute Concerto” in D major. Each concert will be approximately 1.5 hours in length. Pre- or post-show — and before retiring to one of 157 guestrooms and 37 suites in the landmark property with views of the surrounding alpine peaks — enjoy a meal in one of the stunning dining venues under the direction of executive chef Michel Jost. A native of Geneva, Jost brings his experience of leading kitchens in South Africa, Israel, Spain, Greece and the UAE to his gourmet creations, such as roast pigeon of Bresse with foie gras and truffle, a winter garnish with chestnuts and red wine sauce; clear oxtail soup with truffles, vegetable pearls and sherry; and Norway lobster risotto with artichokes.
