Marriott International’s portfolio of independent hotels, the Autograph Collection Hotels, announced the debut of four properties in Asia next year. In 2017, The Shanhaitian Resort Sanya in China, The Majestic Hotel and Hotel Stripes in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and RYSE hotel in Seoul, South Korea, will open.

The curated collection of some of the finest independent hotels are located in extraordinary destinations all over the world. The hotels are selected for design, craftsmanship and details, allowing travelers to come across a one-of-a-kind experience.

The Shanhaitian Resort Sanya is located in the Da Dong Hai Bay area of the Sanya region on Hainan island. Nestled on beautiful shorelines with crystal-clear waters and views, the tropical paradise is located close to the city. The hotel displays a contemporary design with a fashion-forward aesthetic anchored by style and self-expression.

The three additional properties in Malaysia and South Korea scheduled to open offer distinctive experiences inspired by the destination. The Majestic Hotel, originally built in the 1930s, is an iconic Art Deco landmark and home to The Smoke House. The Smoke House is a celebrated lounge and bar featuring a card and cigar room, screening room, tailor and gentleman’s grooming salon. Hotel Stripes is a chic urban hotel in the trendy Jalan Kamunting area, home to the art and food scene. RYSE embodies the city’s hip and artistic Hongdae district.

It opened its borders to international visitors in 1974 and, while tourism definitely increased, residents are enduring “light” rush-hour traffic in Thimphu, its capital city, as the only Asian capital without traffic lights.
