I spent my Thanksgiving holiday in San Diego. Although it was a very brief visit, I was excited to return to one of my favorite cities in the country — other than NYC, of course. Last time I was there was 15 years ago when I had a slight detour trip to Tijuana, Mexico — crazy place! The city is absolutely beautiful, as the weather is your typical spring temperatures, and the people are stunning! As it is one of the most athletic/fit cities in the world, I was eager to prove my athleticism by signing up for the Turkey Trot on Thanskgiving Day.
Though air travel slowed as airports temporarily closed and borders shuttered to stifle the spread of coronavirus, the airline industry — led by oneworld alliance member airlines — enacted enhanced protective measures to reduce risk and protect passengers.
Arrival/Check-In: My TAP Portugal flight arrived in Lisbon early in the morning, which brought up some questions regarding hotel check-in. Although Penha Longa Resort is located in Sintra and check-in is in the afternoon, I was hoping to get into my room early and enjoy a little shuteye before exploring the property. The receptionist who helped me check in could see how tired I was. She kindly suggested I enjoy the breakfast at the resort while staff rushed to get my room ready. By the time I was finished with my meal, my room was waiting for me.
