Certify, travel expense management software provider, revealed the results of its Certify SpendSmart report which analyzed business travel spending for the second quarter of 2017.

Ride-hailing service Uber picked up 2 percent to claim a commanding 55 percent of ground transportation overall in the second quarter, after not gaining any traction during the first quarter. Lyft also grew 2 percent throughout the same period. As for the overall ground transportation category, for the first time in the report’s history, taxis dropped to 8 percent. The car rental industry also experienced a decline of 3 percent to 29 percent overall.

“The revolution in ground transportation we’re seeing today led by Uber and Lyft has far reaching implications for the future of corporate travel,” said Robert Neveu, chief executive officer, Certify. “Business travelers’ move toward greater personalization and convenience may have started with ride-hailing, but it’s not likely to stop there. Mobile technology brought us into a new age, and the expectation and ability to cater to the preferences of the individual is driving a cultural shift that will continue to affect dynamic change throughout the industry.”

In every city besides Miami, Lyft gained shares, and Uber lost between 1­–4 percent in every city but Chicago, where the service leader gained 1 percent. Despite the dip in many cities, Uber remained the most expensed brand processed by the system with nearly 9 percent of all expenses and receipts. Certify projects taxis will fall under 1 percent of ground transportation expenses and receipts within the first quarter of 2018.
