With the busy travel season ahead, Amtrak beefs up routes for holiday travelers.
With Thanksgiving week one of the most traveled each year, Amtrak preps routes with extra trains added to the Northeast Corridor and Midwest routes, as well as additional cars added to existing trains along the West Coast. Most routes will include free WiFi to accommodate the surplus of passengers.
Last year, Amtrak broke records with the largest passenger count during the Thanksgiving week at more than 777,000 passengers nationwide. The busiest day, with more than 160,000 customers traveling, is the Sunday following Thanksgiving.
Expect tickets to sell out quickly. Plan ahead and book tickets early. Another way to stay connected with changing travel plans, follow Amtrak on social media, especially Twitter, for up-to-date news on the NEC.
