American Airlines Will Partner With Uber

Daily

American Airlines kicked off a partnership with taxi alternative Uber last month. Customers who book flights on American’s website will receive in their confirmation email the option to set a reminder for an Uber ride when they land.

The option is available at 11 U.S. airports, including Chicago O’Hare International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, Philadelphia International Airport, New York’s John F. Kennedy International and LaGuardia Airport.

Additionally, American Airlines AAdvantage Executive Platinum members will receive Uber discounts of up to $25 if they’re enrolled in the rewards program by March 1. Customers new to Uber are eligible for up to $20 off their next ride with the promo code RIDEAA.

“We’re excited to partner with the only global ride sharing service to offer customers exactly what they’re asking for — a seamless travel experience, whether they’re in the sky or on the ground,” said Scott Hinshaw, director of partner marketing, American Airlines, in a statement. “By working together, we can provide a service that allows customers to request their Uber ride to the airport in step with their itinerary and know where to meet their Uber driver after their flight lands.”

The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
