Aloft introduces an exclusive new streaming service, RoomCast, powered by Chromecast and designed by TeleAdapt. Currently, the service is undergoing a pilot stage at Aloft New Orleans Downtown, where all 188 guestrooms will offer RoomCast by the end of the summer. RoomCast is designed for simple usage, with no need for new accounts or setup, allowing guests to easily stream their own content right on the guestroom television. “Innovation is at the heart of the Aloft brand, and we are always striving to bring new technologies to our early adopter guests first. In partnership with cutting-edge thinkers of TeleAdapt, we are thrilled to be first to bring RoomCast powered by Chromecast to market at Aloft New Orleans Downtown. It’s a simple, safe and secure way for guests to stream their favorite content right to their televisions. It’s the future of in-room entertainment, now,” said Sarah Downing, vice president, global guest initiatives, Aloft Hotels. Each guestroom is outfitted with a wireless personal area network with a guest-specific password and media-streaming device. After joining the secure network, guests can use a cast button on all cast-enabled apps to project media from their iOS or Android smartphones or tablets straight onto the television. The entire viewing experience is controlled from users’ mobile devices, without the need for guestroom remotes or downloaded software. Mobile devices are still usable during viewing and texts and calls still come through. After the guest leaves, the entire system is reset with a new password, ensuring guest privacy. “We work hard to develop products that meet the unique needs of hotel guestroom applications, but that cannot be done in a vacuum. The Starwood teams’ support with the development of RoomCast was absolutely key,” said Neil Betterton, vice president of global product development, TeleAdapt.

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
