All Nippon Airways and Singapore Airlines’ relationship is getting stronger with the signing of a new joint venture agreement.

Two of the highest-profile airlines in Asia are coming together to offer passengers more options than ever. Last week, the airlines signed a joint network framework agreement. The agreement deepens the airlines’ existing relationship.

Before the agreement gets off the ground, it needs to be approved by regulatory bodies in Singapore and Japan. The agreement expands networks and gives passengers increased connectivity between Japan and Singapore. The airlines already have a codeshare agreement in place that grants passengers lounge access, mileage program compatibility and more. The new deal allows joint fare products, equivalent frequent-flyer programs and more.

“This proposed joint venture underscores our commitment to the important Japanese market and our valued partner ANA,” said Goh Choon Phong, CEO, Singapore Airlines.

“ANA is excited about strengthening its ties with Singapore Airlines, a fellow Star Alliance member that shares our passenger-oriented philosophy and has also distinguished itself as a true global leader in service and convenience,” said Yuji Hirako, president and CEO, ANA.

If the venture is authorized, it will signal Singapore Airlines as the third airline to enter into a joint venture partnership with All Nippon Airways.
