Aug 8, 2016
eFlyer News

Airberlin is introducing its business class to European and German flights. It is the first time airberlin business class is available on short- and medium-haul flights. “We find ourselves at the beginning of a far-reaching transformation from which a new, stronger airberlin will emerge,” said Stefan Pichler, CEO, airberlin. “By introducing a business class on short- and medium-haul flights, we are making key strategic decisions that will pave the way to a sustainable future for the company and that will clearly position airberlin in the premium sector of European airlines. The new premium product will make us more attractive, particularly for business travelers and frequent flyers, and we now offer a seamless business class experience on the global route network by airberlin and our partner airlines.” Business-class passengers enjoy the first cabin row with additional legroom exceeding European business-class standards. The new business class also guarantees an empty middle seat on all flights. Topbonus members receive double miles on all business-class flights. Economy class also sees changes this year. Short- and medium-haul flights now offer airbistro, a regularly changing menu of for-purchase food and drinks. Menu specialty items travelers can expect include currywurst and BRLO craft beer from the Berlin brewery. All passengers on flights 90 minutes or longer can expect an expansion of food and beverage options provided by Sansibar. “With the new on-board service, we are responding to the needs of our guests, who would like to see flexible products to suit every taste and price range,” added Pichler. “In this way, we will also be able to accommodate new trends and to offer seasonal products onboard.”
