On Nov. 8, the United States borders opened for all vaccinated international travelers. This announcement saw a sudden increase in bookings at Air France for flights to the United States. Many international travelers booked Air France trips to Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), and New York (JFK) for the holidays.
The increased selection of certain destinations means Air France will add more flights for the winter season. New York will now have three to five daily flights; Los Angeles 12 to 17 weekly flights; and Miami seven to 12 weekly flights. In addition to routes to the United States, Air France will also continue flights from Paris-Charles de Gaulle to Seattle (SEA), a route suspended since the beginning of the pandemic. Air France plans to have three weekly flights beginning Dec. 6 from Paris to Seattle.
Air France also resumed the Paris–Papeete (PPT) route via Los Angeles with three weekly flights as well as a new route with two weekly flights between Pointe-à-Pitre (PTP) and New York beginning Nov. 24. Because of the spike in bookings and traffic on these trans-Atlantic routes, Air France will slowly add flights for this upcoming winter as December approaches. Air France intends to go back to a capacity of about 90 percent of that of 2019 between now and the end of March 2022, a stark contrast to the 50 percent capacity in the summer of 2021. As the pandemic continues, however, Air France will continue to take all necessary safety precautions and health measures.
