Cirium, a global aviation analytics company, recently released the most on-time airlines in the world for early 2024. The study found Aeromexico as the most improved airline in February, with a 90.66 percent on-time performance, a 12.5-point increase in on-time performance over January 2024.
Aeromexico tracked 99.95 percent of its total 15,206 flights with 91.69 percent of its flights departing on time.
“Occupying the top position worldwide is truly inspiring, and it is possible thanks to the enormous effort of the best talent in the industry behind every takeoff and landing,” said Andres Conesa, CEO, Aeromexico.
The recent study also found Delta Air Lines as the second-most on-time airline in the world in 2024 with an on-time performance of 89.27 percent. Of a staggering 123,748 flights in this period, Delta Air Lines tracked 99.99 percent of its flights, with 89.62 of these flights departing on time.
In Europe, Austrian Airlines took the top spot, while Safair leads both the Middle East and Africa region, as well as the Low-Cost Carrier category for highest on-time performance in early 2024.
In Asia, Singapore Airlines came in the top spot with 84.12 percent of its flights on time. ANA followed closely behind in second with an on-time performance of 82.85 percent. And Copa Airlines took the top spot in Latin America with an impressive 91.66 on-time performance.
Globally, the five most on-time airlines between December 2023 and February 2024 are:
- Aeromexico
- Delta Air Lines
- Iberia
- United Airlines
- Azul
With all of these on-time airlines, how many cancellations did the world see in January and February 2024? Asia Pacific experienced the most, with a whopping 30,088 cancellations in January 2024 alone. North America followed close behind in January 2024 with 25,657 flight cancellations.
Cirium reports on-time performance numbers inclusive of all flights operated under a carrier’s brand. To learn more about the study, visit here.
