Active Adventures added a nine-day Camino de Santiago trek in Northern Spain to its offerings for 2022. Travelers can embark on this adventure to explore the ancient pilgrim route to the tomb of the apostle St. James with expert guides leading the trek.
Set to debut in April 2022 and run weekly through October 2022, the Camino de Santiago is a hiking-oriented tour starting at the port city of Bilbao. The trek will take travelers through the mountain paths of Asturias, the hills of Galicia and the region of Cape Finisterre.
“The Camino de Santiago has been on our radar for some time now, and the opportunity to add this life-changing journey to our portfolio was something we couldn’t pass up,” explained Wendy van Lieshout, CEO, Active Adventures and Austin Adventures.
The new tour not only focuses on hiking but also on the regional gastronomy and natural sites found throughout the trek. From the beaches on the Camino del Norte in Asturias to the oak forests and rural setting of the Camino Primitivo, travelers will see features of the country up close.
