The last time JetBlue updated the interior cabins of its planes was during the early 2000s, so news of coming upgrades is welcome among crew and passengers. JetBlue’s fleet of Airbus planes will see new seats with adjustable headrests, seat-back power stations, upgraded television screens and LED lighting throughout the cabin.

Despite these long overdue improvements, one changing aspect of the interior cabin is less beneficial to travelers. Passengers accustomed to 34 inches of legroom will have only 32 inches of legroom with the new models. The two-inch difference may not be noticeable for travelers of average height, and JetBlue will still offer the largest amount of legroom, on average, of any other U.S. airline. The decreased legroom will allow for 162 seats on board — an increase from the former 150 seats.
JetBlue’s original completion date was scheduled for 2019, but, after a few problems with seat fitting, toilets and the in-flight entertainment system, it is likely the new completion date will be as many as 36 months in the future, as it takes 30 days to update each plane.
