Air New Zealand and Cathay Pacific announced a five-year extension of their strategic alliance on services between New Zealand and Hong Kong.
Flag carrier Cathay Pacific currently operates a seasonal twice-daily service between Auckland (AKL) and Hong Kong (HKG), while Air New Zealand operates a daily service on the same route.
The airlines announced a new seasonal service to be added in December between Hong Kong and Christchurch (CHC), operated by Cathay Pacific. The new non-stop service will operate three times per week through Feb. 28, 2018, departing Hong Kong on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Stephen Jones, chief strategy, networks and alliances officer, Air New Zealand, said, “Through our agreement with Cathay Pacific we have been able to stimulate travel between New Zealand and Hong Kong and importantly grow inbound tourism from this market with visitor numbers up by almost 130 per cent since the alliance was first signed.”
