Top chefs and the best Nordic seafood and agricultural products will convene in Reykjavik, Iceland, for the 16th annual Food & Fun Festival (March 1–5). What began as a winter lull tourism boost in 2002 has grown into a world-recognized invitational competition between teams comprised of one Icelandic chef and one European or U.S. chef.
The mission is to create affordable gourmet menus across a week’s worth of competitions. Guest chefs are restricted to Icelandic products — all sustainably produced. The Icelandic proverb “glöggt er gests augað” (the guest’s eye sees clearly) is put into practice. A panel of celebrity guest chefs acts as judges, with three finalists competing for the title of Food and Fun Chef of the Year. Icelandair is a founding partner.
