The Venetian Las Vegas launched its first co-working space, partnering with the online clothing store Zappos.
The 110-square-meter pop up, located on the second level of The Palazzo Congress Centre, contains a mix of meeting rooms, private corners and lounge space. Transparent walls divide the space to create an open-plan environment.
“Co-working encourages the sharing of ideas and what better place to do that than in the middle of the largest meeting space in Las Vegas,” said Maggie Hsu, advisor, Zappos. “Our team members will be staffing the lounge and will share the Zappos service philosophy of delivering happiness with every collision they make with a guest.”
Luxury décor company Restoration Hardware provided the furnishings. The space is filled with industrial design features like raw wooden tables and stools and distressed leather armchairs. The room includes four private phone rooms, charging stations and a conference room, seating six.
The partnership is a part of a revamp project of downtown Las Vegas, managed by Tony Hsieh, chief executive officer, Zappos, which has seen the $350 million invested in the downtown area over a five-year period. The plan is to create an attractive destination for entrepreneurs and tech start-up, embodying the co-working capital of the world.
“Our co-working pop-up taps into a growing trend of creating collaborative workspaces that can be used on a temporary basis in addition to traditional offices,” Lis Marchese, chief marketing officer, The Venetian and The Palazzo, said. “Placing a co-working space in the heart of a meetings and convention destination combines two concepts that you do not often see together.”
