Emirates is welcoming the first Next-Generation Airbus A380 to its fleet, complete with innovative seat configurations and numerous aesthetic and functional improvements.

The double-decker jet’s new seat configuration features an additional 25 economy seats, bringing the aircraft total to 516 seats: 14 in first class, 76 in business and 426 in economy. The overhead cabin lockers will now be concentrated in the middle aisles and will be 28 per cent larger than previous versions.

A redesigned business-class cabin features higher ceilings for a more open feel and an improved aesthetic. The onboard lounge and first-class shower area have been retained on the new aircraft.

Lavatories have been given aesthetic upgrades, including new wood finishes and improved lighting. Customers will be able to enjoy 100 per cent, on-demand entertainment, with a choice of up to 2,600 channels on Emirates’ innovative ICE system. The airline also recently introduced LinkedIn Learning courses through the onboard entertainment system, making it the first international airline to make instructional courses available on flights.

The new generation of A380s is expected to serve more ultra-long haul routes and was designed for improved fuel-efficient environmental performance along with a more comfortable and convenient flight experience.
