American Airlines begins international flights Nov. 4, on the airline’s first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The first route, bookable now, is between Dallas (DFW), Madrid (MAD) and São Paulo (GRU). The new 787-9 Dreamliner includes 30 fully lie-flat, all-aisle-access business-class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration; 21 premium-economy seats in a 2-3-2 configuration; and 237 main cabin seats in a 3-3-3 configuration. Every seat includes a personal seatback entertainment center and power and USB ports. WiFi provides access to internet, live television, 300 movies, shows and games. Passengers in business class receive Bose QuietComfort Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones. The Dreamliner also features large, dimmable windows and improved cabin humidity throughout. “As the first U.S. airline to introduce premium economy seating on international flights, we continue to innovate new ways to meet our customers’ expectations with the products and services they value. The 787-9 is going to be a fantastic addition to our widebody fleet, with international WiFi and an inflight experience that’s second to none. Our existing widebodies will offer premium economy as we retrofit our cabins and continue to elevate the entire travel experience with our $3 billion investment,” said Andrew Nocella, CMO, American Airlines. Return flights from Madrid leave at 12:20 p.m., and arrive in Dallas at 4:40 p.m. Flights between Dallas and São Paulo depart Dallas at 7 p.m., and arrive in São Paulo at 7:05 a.m., the next day. Hyatt Centric Las Olas Review

Today’s Fort Lauderdale is not the one you or your older relatives experienced in college; while beachfront surf shops along Fort Lauderdale Boulevard recall that colorful Spring Break era, Las Olas Boulevard embodies the city’s recent glow-up, particularly after the pandemic. In fact, it was spring 2020 when Hyatt Centric Las Olas opened its doors and played a major role in reshaping and rethinking Fort Lauderdale as a relaxed but lively vacation or business destination.

Now’s the Time to See Giza, the Nile and Beyond

All archaeology-obsessed eyes turned hopefully toward Egypt earlier this year when the highly anticipated Grand Egyptian Museum outside Cairo finally began welcoming visitors after construction delays, funding roadblocks and political upheaval in the region (among other factors) conspired to keep things delayed for many long years. The museum’s cherry on the top is slated to open this summer, with the July opening of the museum’s 20-plus-years-in-the-making Tutankhamen galleries and accompanying cache of some 5,000 artifacts and treasures from the boy king’s tomb.
