Britain’s exit from the European Union hasn’t stopped United Airlines from moving forward with its plan to add more flights to London. The airline announced last month that it will travel its current San Francisco (SFO) to Heathrow International Airport routes more frequently with another daily flight starting Oct. 30. With that additional flight, United will serve Heathrow twice a day, year-round. The airline will also add another Heathrow flight from Los Angeles (LAX), a route it currently serves. That additional flight will start April 5, 2017. Both routes will use Dreamliner planes; the SFO route will use a 787-8 and the LAX flights will use a 787-9. Meanwhile, United is cutting back its Houston (IAH) to Heathrow route slightly. As of Oct. 30, the airline will reduce its Houston service down from three flights a day to two. However, United is switching to larger Boeing 777s for those remaining Houston flights, so while it is reducing the number of flights made daily, the number of seats available won’t decrease by much. These changes come amid Brexit-based investor fears that have stock shares for all three legacy airline carriers falling to lows not seen since 2014. United Airlines, though, doesn’t seem to be reacting too quickly.
