Viking Ocean Cruises’ fourth ship, Viking Sun, will host the brand’s first World Cruise. The itinerary will visit 35 countries and 66 ports over the course of 141 days. The new vessel will set sail Dec. 15, 2017, from Miami, eventually ending the journey in London later in 2018. At every port, guests will have the option of a complimentary shore excursion. The experience also includes business-class airfare. “Ever since our first ship set sail last year, we have been focused on bringing the destination back to ocean cruising. Our unique, award-winning approach allows our guests to explore comfortably, with experiences that enrich their lives along the way. This World Cruise is the most extensive and culturally immersive itinerary we have ever offered, and we are pleased by the early interest in pre-sales we have seen from our guests and industry partners,” said Torstein Hagen, chairman, Viking Cruises. The cruise includes overnight stays in 12 destinations. Highlights will include Havana’s Old Town; the Panama Canal; Papeete, Tahiti; Auckland; Shanghai; Sydney; Bangkok; Singapore; and Malta before finally docking in Greenwich on the Thames River. The Viking Sun will offer 465 cabins for 930 passengers. Passengers can choose from five stateroom categories, all with private balconies and luxury amenities. Fourteen Explorer Suites offer two rooms, wraparound verandas and added passenger benefits. The ship will also feature a LivNordic Spa, two pools, the Wintergarden and multiple dining options.
