Looking back on 2015, AccorHotels had a record-breaking year, opening two properties every three days, for a total of 229 new properties. Currently, the brand has 3,900 hotels in 92 countries. The focus of much of the brand’s 2015 expansion was on the Asia Pacific and European markets, which accounted for 39 and 37 percent of its expansion, respectively.
“2015 was a historic year for AccorHotels’ expansion. We crossed the symbolic milestone of half a million rooms with a 20 percent increase in the number of openings last year! We have a record pipeline of 160,000 rooms, and our objective is to maintain profitable expansion, strengthen our presence in the countries where we are leaders and rapidly acquire market share in emerging markets,” said Gaurav Bhushan, global chief development officer, AccorHotels.
Flagship or key openings in 2015 included the Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa, Hotel Cures Marines MGallery Collection by Sofitel, Pullman The Park Lane Hong Kong, Mercure Vienna First, Novotel Manila Araneta Center, Adagio Premium Dubai Al Barsha, Ibis Styles Paris CDG Airport and Ibis Mexico Alameda.
As of December 2015, there were 160,000 rooms in the AccorHotels pipeline, with 50 percent of these properties being located in Asia Pacific. Scheduled 2016 openings include the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera, Hotel Paris Bastille Boutet MGallery Collection by Sofitel, Pullman Liverpool Hotel, Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 20, Mercure Maldives Koodoo Resort, Ibis Bali Legian Street and Ibis Styles Nanchang Wanda.
